Yaqui and Mayo Pascola Masks from NW Mexico and Southern Arizona are carved primarily from cottonwood with horse or goat hair accents and painted designs. Traditionally, the masks represented either a goat or man, and more recently depict other animals such as roosters, cats, monkeys, and more. The masks are worn by Yaqui and Mayo Pascola dancers in Tucson, Arizona during the reenactments of Holy Week.
